Summary: Please be informed that the outpayment rates for Ireland are changing from January 1st 2012 because of a VAT increase to 23%. To explain in more detail, please see the following release from O2 Ireland:
"The recently announced Government VAT increase which comes into effective on January 1st 2012, will impact on the Premium rebates. If O2 was to apply a retail price increase this would cause you serious operational difficulties and customer confusion, as you would need to present difference prices to the consumer depending on the Operator they are with. After consultation both internally and externally we have decided not to pass the VAT onto the customer and so retail prices will not change. Instead the VAT will be absorbed into our existing commercial revenue model and be borne proportionally by O2 and the Wholesaler. The current revenue share rebates will be decreased accordingly."
