Approval Process & Shared Code Regulations
The same applies to both shared codes and dedicated codes, see forum entry Ireland - Premium SMS Regulations. There is no formal carrier or regulator approval process to run on our shared lines in Ireland, e.g. we dont have to apply to the carriers or the regulator to get you permission to go live. We have an existing approval for our JunglePay service, which when using our JunglePay interface, you can bill €40 without the need for approval. txtNation will however check your service when you submit your service description as part of the account set-up procedure.
Promotional Guidelines
The same applies to both shared codes and dedicated codes, see forum entry Ireland - Premium SMS Regulations for more information regarding Promotional Guidelines.
Message Flow Requirements
The same applies to both shared codes and dedicated codes, see forum entry Ireland - Premium SMS Regulations for more information regarding Message Flow Requirements. We do not have specific message flow approvals on our Irish lines that you must adhere to. Providing you are adhering to the regulations set by the regulator, that is all that is required.
Service Types
Most service types are allowed with an approval (see full Regulations), however adult services are strictly not allowed. The same applies to both shared codes and dedicated codes, see forum entry Ireland - Premium SMS Regulations for more information regarding Service Types.
Billing Type
On our shared lines in Ireland we operate Mobile Terminated (MT). See forum entry "What are the SMS billing types available?" for more information on these billing types.
As this is an MT billed country, you may also like to consider users that don't have enough credit on their phone, and implement a policy to retry at a lower value if messages of a higher denomination don't reach their destination.
Opt-in Process
The same applies to both shared codes and dedicated codes, see forum entry Ireland - Premium SMS Regulations, e.g. with transactional and subscription services you can opt people in via a single opt-in process, and with Pin based opt-in. However with subscription services you must send a confirmation of subscription message that must be in the following format:
FreeMsg: You are subscribed to XXXXX at €5/week to send texts. Ages 18+. SP: txtNation 1800 812799 or (help email) To unsubscribe send STOP to 57977.
Available Tariffs
At the time of writing the available tariffs for Ireland are as follows:
€1.50, €2.50
Multi-tariff codes are not available. Please speak to your account manager for a more up to date list of tariffs.
Frequency and Amount
There are no regulations governing the amount you can charge for a service so long as you have approval from ComReg. As Ireland is MT billed, you can apply to bill the user multiples of our shared Irish tariffs, to reach your desired tariff. There are no set limits, however ComReg will need to deem it a worthy charge for the product you're offering.
Shortcodes and Keywords
On our shared codes in Ireland we operate on a 5 digit shortcode for each carrier, 57xxx. The full short code is provided on application.
Taxes
VAT is a tax on consumer spending. It is collected by VAT-registered traders on their supplies of goods and services effected within the State, for consideration, to their customers. The outpayments on our rate cards are exclusive of VAT, so if you are VAT registered you can claim a higher outpayment than is shown. The tariff shown is inclusive of VAT, e.g. the amounts shown are the amounts charged to the end-users.
Dedicated Codes
Dedicated codes are available with a 2 to 5 weeks lead time depending on carrier availability, ComReg approval and service type. You can read more about Short Code Coverage, SMS Billing Services and Mobile Payments in Ireland via the txtNation Gateway.
