Application Process

The same applies to both shared codes and dedicated codes, see forum entry Australia - Premium SMS, Short Code Requirements. There is no formal carrier or regulator approval process to run on our shared lines in Australia, e.g. we dont have to apply to the carriers or the regulator to get you permission to go live. txtNation will however check your service when you submit your service description as part of the account setup procedure. Subscription services require providers approval. The typical time for service approval form feedback is 1 week and the average time to go live once your CCF has been approved is 2 - 3 days.

Promotion Requirements

The same applies to both shared codes and dedicated codes, see forum entry Australia - Premium SMS, Short Code Requirements for more information regarding Promotional Guidelines.

Message Flow

The same applies to both shared codes and dedicated codes, see forum entry Australia - Premium SMS, Short Code Requirements for more information regarding Message Flow Requirements. We do not have specific message flow approvals on our Australia lines that you must adhere to. Providing you are adhering to the regulations set by the regulator, that is all that is required.

Service Types

The same applies to both shared codes and dedicated codes, see forum entry Australia - Premium SMS, Short Code Requirements for more information regarding Service Types.

Billing Types

We operate Mobile Terminated (MT) on our shared short codes in Australia. See forum entry "What are the SMS billing types available?" for more information on these billing types.

Opt-in Process

- Transactional services require a double sms MO opt-in or Web based opt-in with an MO reply (DO or WO-RAR).

- Standard rate transactional and subscription programs require a single opt-in (SMS-O or WO-RAR).

- Premium rate subscriptions require a double sms MO opt-in or Web based opt-in with an MO reply (DO or WO-RAR), and require a standard rate information message as the subscription starts.

- PIN opt-in (WO-PIN) is not available.

Shortcode and Keywords

On our shared codes in Australia, we operate on an 8 or 5 digit shortcode for each carrier, however 5 digit short codes are more typical. Adult content is not possible.

Tariffs

The current available tariffs in Australia on our shared codes is as follows:

AUD $2.50 and AUD £6.60

For a more up to date list of tariffs and available outpayments please ask your Account Manager for an Australian Premium SMS Rate Card.

Frequency and Amount

The same applies to both shared codes and dedicated codes, see forum entry Australia - Premium SMS, Short Code Requirements for more information regarding Frequency and Amounts.

Taxes

The current rate of tax in Australia is available via Wikipedia. The premium SMS outpayments on our rate cards are exclusive of VAT, so if you are VAT registered you can claim a higher outpayment than is shown.

Dedicated Codes

Dedicated codes are available with a 5 - 7 week lead time depending on carrier availability, the carriers approve based on their backlog, the time of year, price point and service type. You can read more about Short Code Coverage, SMS Billing Services and Mobile Payments in Australia via the txtNation Gateway.
