    Trans-Atlantic Connectivity Issue

On 19 May, our network engineers were alerted to problems with customers reaching Rackspace over Telia links. After initial investigation to verify traffic paths and ensure all other provider links were not affected, we contacted Telia who advised they were working to resolve a major network issue. We then proceeded with filtering inbound and outbound traffic to Telia at 20:48 UTC, which is standard protocol to address these types of issues.

At no point was our internal network affected; Rackspace cannot control the paths customer traffic takes outside of our network. Our data centers are designed to leverage multiple circuits of varying sizes in order to distribute and balance traffic efficiently.

At this time provider Telia continues to experience issues, and we have taken all available precautions to reduce the risk to customers. Customers with direct links to Telia may continue to experience impact.
