UK: Changes to PFI payment flow on EE


EE has mandated that from 15th February 2018, all subscription Payforit payment flows must include a pin stage on the second page. To meet this obligation, a new function is being added to all payment pages. From 15th February, an End User seeking to subscribe to a service will be sent a random 4 digit pin to their handset. The End User will be required to enter the pin into the second page of the pay flow before it is possible to proceed with payment. If an incorrect pin is entered three times the End User will be exited from the payment flow.

This change is being automatically added and no steps are required by the service providers.

The pin flow is not required in the following circumstances:

  1. Where the End User, prior to reaching the payment pages, has to sign up to a continuously enabled, username and password accessed account, known only by the End User.
  2. Where the payment flow already uses an SMS pin flow

If you believe your service should have one of these exceptions applied to it, please contact your account manager urgently.
